Missing Rickover student Kayla Downer has been said to be in contact with friends and police via her MySpace page, according to an updated critical reach alert that was released on Wednesday, Dec. 16.
Downer, 15, a sophomore at Rickover Naval Academy, left her Rogers Park home after a disagreement with her parents and has not been seen nor attended classes since Nov. 26.
Belmont Area 3 detectives from the special victims unit say Downer has indicated on her MySpace page that the people she is staying with are “unaware that she is reported missing” and that she is “trying to figure out what to with her life.”
Downer was not reported missing until Dec. 11, when her parents filed a police report, Rickover Principal Michael Biela said.
Police are urging anyone who has seen Downer or has information on her whereabouts to call the Area 3 special victims unit at 312-744-8266 or 911. The reference (police report) number is HR663593.
Kayla was born Jan. 12, 1994. She is described as African American; five feet, five inches tall, weighing 160 pounds, with black hair and a medium brown complexion. If you have seen Kayla or have any information where she is, please call the Area 3 Special Victims Unit at 312-744-8266 or 911.
Police say anyone harboring Downer will be subject to arrest and prosecution.
