A trial date has been set for two men indicted on multiple felony counts of vote fraud stemming from the 50th Ward aldermanic election in 2007.
Former Ward Streets and Sanitation Superintendent Anish Eapen and campaign worker Armando Ramos have been scheduled for a two-day bench trial on Nov.9 and Nov. 10 in the Cook County Criminal Court building at 26th and California before Judge Marcus Salone.
Cook County State’s Attorney spokesman Andy Conklin said the case could realistically wrap up in two days, but additional dates to hear testimony may scheduled if necessary.
Both men face multiple felony counts of vote fraud and vote tampering while working for Ald. Berny Stone’s (50thWard) aldermanic campaign. Charges were filed in January 2008 after the completion of a joint investigation by the Cook County State’s Attorney’s and Chicago Inspector General’s offices.
The bench trial will take place in Room 706 at 26th and California at a time to be determined. Lake Effect News will have more information from the Cook County State’s Attorney’s office when it becomes available later this week.
