Experience Uptown like you’ve never experienced it before. The Wilson Area Merchants Association, better known as WAMA, is sponsoring its third annual walkfest is going on this weekend through Sunday, Sept. 13.
The idea is to get people walking around Uptown and introducing area residents to neighborhood businesses and restaurants. The walkfest features four thrilling days of retail, food, music and comedy.
Despite Hurricane Ike dumping rain on last year’s Experience Uptown event, it was a rousing success. This year’s discounts are pretty good; some bars are offering 30-percent off drinks and entrees, just in time for the new Cook County liquor tax.
Featured businesses include Soggy Paws, Demera, Advanced Spine and Sports Care, Nick’s On Wilson, Uptown Ace Hardware, Three Harmony Chinese Restaurant, Thai Uptown, Driftwood, Arellano’s, Fresh Harvest, Magnolia Café, Tiztal Care, Uptown Recording, Dib, Shake, Rattle & Read, Fontana Grill, Alma Pita, Kahawa House Coffee Lounge, Wild Pug, Fat Cat, Body Fit Athletic Club, Striped Tiger Graphic Design, Balancing Point, Pegasus Players, Gigio’s Pizza, Agami and Golden House Restaurant & Pancake House.
