Well, how about this for an interesting twist. Jacob used to work for me at Target and I am an openly gay man. I was frankly terrified that I would look out the window one day and find Jacob and his family protesting at my house. However, and causing me a lot of tortured feelings, I found Jake to be an incredibly good team member. He was extremely hard working, intelligent, very responsive, very polite, respectful, and never ever once said anything inappropriate to me. I actually promoted Jake into a specialty function because he was such a dependable honest guy. Talk about conflicted. I wanted to hate him but he was, out of 45 team members, one of the top 15% of the team. And my “gaydar” NEVER went off regarding him. He is just a shy, quiet, reserved, kind man who has, in my opinion, who has been abused because of the messagees he has had surrounding him his whole life. I wanted to hate him but just couldn’t.
